patrokles Task 1

Post by patrokles »

Hello,

This is my rather modest enter to the year Build 2019 :( I hope I'll manage to prepare more models for next tasks ?)

Let's start from my "DIY" desert field fortifications (scale 1/72)

Superb all round..... thmbs2)
Greatness is not in where we stand,
but in what direction we are moving,
we must sail sometimes in the wind,
and sometimes against it,
but sail we must, and not drift nor lie at anchor.

Thank you very much Gentlemen :) I'm glad you like it. I must confess that my 8th Army stuff was my experiment with some washes and artistic oil paints. Thanks to this I know I'm walking good way, but there is a lot to improve ... ?)

The 8th Army guys look good in terms of skin tone - combination of sunburn and propellant residues does actually look like that.

It was an experiment. I assumed that the British have a very light skin tone (like my wife - her skin tone is almost white :-) and "African sunburn" will look more reddish than brown. So I used Valleho skin tone wash first and using dry brush technique I painted skin again with Revell's flesh colour underlining the muscles. After that I used "Ogryn Flesh" from Citadel. The result is not perfect in my oppinion but I think I went in good direction 8-)

Thank you very much mate ! I love old Airfix figures and models too :D They were along with unforgiven Matchbox stuff my first contact with the scale in the late 70's .... I'm sorry for my late answer. I'm always late and my notorious lack of time to do everything what i'd like to do is becoming my second nature ... Sorry for that
