Forced me to finish my Brits
I have always wanted to do a British Infantry Brigade in Normandy for RF. Easy you say but I wanted to use only hard plastic figures so that means Almark and Airfix figures with Airfix and Matchbox vehicles. So this build will give me the incentive to get on and finish them. I have already done 2 RUR so that leaves me with;
2 Lincs
1 KOSB
Company of 2 Middlesex
33 Field Regt, RA
Troop of 92 LAA Regt, RA
Battery of 20 AT Regt, RA
The hard part will be finding enough 25 pounders !

2 Lincs will be interesting for me, I was borne in Lincoln after all...
Greatness is not in where we stand,
but in what direction we are moving,
we must sail sometimes in the wind,
and sometimes against it,
but sail we must, and not drift nor lie at anchor.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Sorry Alan, I sold my old Airfix 25pdrs and quads late last year. I do still have quite a few of the gunners left.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
I went through mu various boxes this morning and have found the following;
2 x Airfix polythene Quads
1 x Airfix polythene 25 pdr
7 x proper Airfix Quads
4 x proper Airfix 25 pdr
3 x proper Airfix Limbers.
So only one 25 pounder and three Limbers short for the Regiment !

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
I thought that I'd have a go at scratching a limber, David Reasoner sent me lots of resin wheels and I think the cam net, the latter saved me messing about with the slats on the top of the limber. Laziness made me leave out the door stops on the limber but I will do the muzzle brake for the gun when all 6 are built. I used the same wheels for the gun which had melted wheels when I bought it.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Most of my stuff will just be out of the box Airfix kits but the HQ's require radio vans. This is the Bofors Tractor reduced to four wheels and with the body made using a 1964 Airfix Mag Article. This one is for the HQ of 33 Field Regt, RA, a second one will belong to the Brigadier. I've just noticed that the headlights are shining skywards ! They have now been fixed.

Nice conversion work and looks the part. Actually the Airfix kit mouldings look decent in the pic.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
The Bofors set i bought last was pretty good molding and flash wise (as was the Lee/Grant I bought recently)
On the converse I was a bit disappointed with the new PSC Honey, lots of mold lines which had to be carefully cleaned away with a sharp knife before assembly (wasn`t very happy with the fit of some of the parts too)

I treated myself to the new(ish) Airfix RAF Vehicles set on Friday, the Bedford 15cwt and Austin Tilly are lovely models.

Alan, isn’t it the Standard Tilly in that set?

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Yes indeed, it is the Standard.
Here it is beside the Morris Office/Radio Van for the Brigade HQ. Colin has this element with a Humber Scout Car but they didn't actually have such a thing and I do have this lovely Tilly.
I bought a part built Airfix QLD last week on ebay for conversion to the QLB. Here it is ready for painting.

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Just in case you think that I'm being slow, this month I have actually finished 5 x 25 pounders, 4 x Quad and Limbers, 2 x Sherman OP, 2 x Carrier OP, the RHQ, Morris tow for 17 pounder, 40mm Bofors ground mount, Morris Bofors SP, Bedford 15 cwt, Standard Tilly, 2 x Morris Office Vans, a 6 pounder with tow, 2 x 75mm Shermans and a Firefly. All of these are the major parts of units but no single unit is actually complete

Re: Forced me to finish my Brits
Don, there was a mix in most units anyway but the real reason is that I've run out of SCC15. I use Starmer's Vallejo mix and until I get up to York on Friday to collect all the paints that my daughter got me in the Boyes' sale a while ago I don't have the correct paints to do the mix, so I gave the SCC2 mix a go.
