Evening Gents,
Any assistance please with which div insignia to put on Churchill tanks for use by the Brits in Normandy.
Thanks

Churchill tanks in Normandy
Re: Churchill tanks in Normandy
Phil
Are talking about AVRE in which case its 79 Armoured Division's Bull's face in a triangle.
Churchill gun tanks were formed into tank brigades held at Army level and attached as required. These were;
6 Guards Tank Brigade their first action was as part of Operation Bluecoat supporting 15 (Scottish) Div.
31 Tank Brigade arrived in Normandy in June in time to take part in Operation Epsom this Brigade included the Churchill Crocodile equipped 141 RAC which was effectively part of 79 AD. There are photos of some 75mm armed Churchill Mk III* in probably both 7 & 9RTR who also operated Stuart IIIs in their recce troops
Finally 34 Tank Brigade which did not leave UK until 2July 1944. Their first action was with 15 (Scottish) Div on 15 July as part of Operation Green line which was a diversionary attack supporting Operation Goodwood.
Irrespective of who they were supporting these units retained either their Brigade insignia or 2nd Army's shield if unit marking were used.
If you're after decals check Dan Taylor's range.
Info from Fortin's British tanks in Normandy and Tank tracks by Peter Beale.
