Re: Share your repainted Oxford diecast models
I bought an Oxford 15cwt Bedford like Alan’s in the short-lived chain of model shops that was open around 2007. The salesman told me that it was their most shop lifted item!

Re: Rebasing my Napoleonic British and allies army
Very nice.
Can the flags be slipped off? If so, you could put American flags on and have 4 line and a rifle battalion for the War of 1812?

Have you considered Frontline? They have the weapons carrier and scout car and the 20mm are usually 1/76.

Re: British etc 1944 greatcoat
Would it be possible to edit the file to remove the gas mask holder or even cut them off after printing? Some other weapons would also be required e.g. a Sten but that should be easy enough. If you were really picky, the rifle should be a Mk4 with the shorter bayonet. If you wanted a really exotic u...

Re: A question about HMS Belfast 38?
Malcolm Wright in his book says that (at the time of writing - roughly 2016) that the current ship’s paint scheme is closest to the post December 1942 scheme. December 1942’s patterns and colours are very similar to the December 1943 North Cape camouflage (507a, 507c and B5). Comparing his drawing w...

Re: British etc 1944 greatcoat
Thought they had which is a pity as their accessories are good.
They took over the Reiver castings ranges but the Korean War ones aren’t even on their website. I have a couple of figures which don’t have greatcoats so I suspect the rest of the range don’t either.

Converted naval ratings?

There may be some suitable Korean War figures from the old Reiver Castings but I can’t find them.

Probably not much use but there is one, lonely figure in the Revell 8th Army Scottish Infantry set.

Re: 1/1200 Warship Plans
I also built my RN ships from the plans in the Almark book. My copy came from the local library until I eventually found one years later in a bookshop in NZ. No internet then. I’ve refurbished some of them recently with new metal turrets as I was alway rubbish at making them.

1/1200 Warship Plans
I have discovered that Model Boats magazine had a series of articles between 1966 and 1994 with 1/1200 warship plans. These were for scratch building simple ship models and are largely for WW1 and 2. I’ve put together a full list of the articles (257). I realise that they are from a different time w...

Burning Steel by Peter Hart
I’ve just finished this book and found it to be well worth reading. It’s a history of the 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry during WW2. What makes it different is that it is based on interviews recorded in the 1990s. It’s well written and links the interviews with actual events in the campaign. It gives ...

Re: HMS Repulse & IJN Mogami
Regarding 1/1200 models, I bought an Italian Pola class cruiser from this supplier. It is a 3D print scaled up from 1/1800 and has a great deal of fine detail- certainly up to the quality of injection moulded kits. I sent an enquiry on a Tuesday and received the model on the next Monday. I’m very im...

I found this and thought it would be useful for restoring old kits. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Re: How were US Army tank platoons organized in 1944?
Just to add a few points to the comprehensive answer from Alan. There were also M4s with 105mm guns- 1 per company and I think another three at battalion headquarters. In Normandy, most of the 75mm Shermans were M4 and M4A1 with 76mm M4A1s. The M4A3 (75mm and 76mm) became more common as the campaign...

I’ve found one. However, the back flat plate is missing (part 45). The good news is that it is a flat plate and would be easy to make from card.

Re: Standard pole lengths: when did they get longer?
I wonder if this is related to flag weights increasing. If you have a look at this clip, the flags seem to be quite light. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=izQSEq_XN8o I can’t find much information but one thing I did find is that the flag cloth thickness was doubled in the late 17th century to support...
