Re: What a tanker - AAR/Review

Chaps, thanks for the various replies. I probably agree with all the comments. It certainly is "beer and pretzels"; or as we will soon find during our sojourn to France "vin rouge at fromage", but sometimes that is what I need! We have played it 2 on 3 and yes it can get a tad frustrating particular...

What a tanker - AAR/Review

Last week the lads at the Hitchin Black Wolf club gave a second outing to the Two Fat Lardies “What a Tanker” game of WW2 Tank Combat. The previous week it was played in 28mm. This time we dropped to 20mm and used a more cluttered table. https://oscarmikegaming.files.wordpress.com/2018/04/3-img_0792...

Re: BG Market Garden - Along the Utrechtsweg

Faustnik,

I would agree except that the Battlegroup rule system doesn't have a "hidden unit" rule. We have tried to introduce it into one game with disastrous results for gaming friendship!

Re: BG Market Garden - Along the Utrechtsweg

Hi; yes indeed. I must admit I presumed the scenarios in the book would be more balanced. That said I used it slightly out of context. It is part of a campaign and we used it as a 1-off. Having painted two British Para platoons plus support I am still keen to get them on the table. We have a trip to...

BG Market Garden - Along the Utrechtsweg

After several months gaming 1/300 Cold War, Greg and I have finally returned to 20mm and WW2 with a scenario straight out of the Battlegroup “Market Garden” book. Scenario 6 sees the German counter-attack along the Utrechtsweg late in the morning of September 19th. Basically two platoons of British ...

Re: Battlegroup Cold War - play test - updated with game two

Greg,

These look excellent. When can we expect the Belgians and Canadians? More seriously I can't wait for BAOR. Oh and I forgot to mention the French with all their wonderful armoured cars

Re: Battlegroup Cold War - play test - updated with game two

Richard, having checked with some of my French colleagues they say the minimum ideal range for MILAN is about 300m, but in extremis it can be shorter. I think this is to allow the gunner to acquire the missile after launch plus for the warhead safe-arm mechanism to arm. I also have a Brasseys book d...
